Knots Arts CIC was founded in 2013 by Cassie, Hazel and Bex. Having run drama and youth club sessions in Richmond for a number of years which were in danger of closing, we were pleased to be able to create Knots Arts to continue these sessions and provide an even wider offer of support to children and young people with social communication difficulties.
Since 2013 our groups have grown considerably and we are now supporting over 100 children and young people through our regular sessions whilst providing support across three London Boroughs.
Our mission is to create inclusive, friendly and fun sessions were children and young people feel safe and supported to develop their communication skills and build friendships. By meeting others who understand the challenges that social communication difficulties can bring, children are able to work together to embrace their differences and overcome any obstacles that they may present.
Knots Arts currently work in three London Boroughs, Richmond-upon-Thames, Sutton and Camden. And run a range of sessions including drama, activity groups and youth clubs for children and young people aged 4 – 25.
“At the end of the day it’s just a neuro-divergence, a really annoying neuro-divergence, but still!” – Rob, 16 year old member of Knots Arts group talking about his Asperger’s.
