Summer Arts 2017

Summer Arts 2017 took place between Monday 7th – Friday 11th August at Holy Trinity Church Hall in Castlenau, Barnes.

22 children aged 4 – 10 joined us to explore art, dance, drama, puppets, storytelling and much much more! The week went a little like this:

On Monday we used instruments and things we could find in the room to make soundscapes and tell stories through music. In the afternoon we learned a dance routine all about animals!

On Tuesday we made our very own tree collages, as well as painting and drawing a HUGE backdrop with rainbows, hills and sunshine! In the afternoon we used our backdrop to help tell a story with sock puppets that we made.

On Wednesday we told stories and played games in our drama session, this was followed by a dance adventure round the world in the afternoon, visiting countries and learning bits of traditional dance wherever we went!

On Thursday our music session was all about using our voices, we made sounds and sang songs, telling stories and exploring. Thursday afternoon saw us getting messy with BIG ART (pictured above). We covered the floor in paper and used crayons to make a huge piece of art, which was finished off by getting out hands and feet nice and painty!

On Friday we finished the week by making dens, using a huge parachute as a circus tent, then did drama which explored our dens and helped us say goodbye to our new friends after a long, but fun, week.
